This class will cover basic knowledge of deer biology, herd management and food plot installations.  We will introduce and encourage idealism of Quality Deer Management Association. This class will be held outdoors in all weather.  Participants will be installing a food plot in the woods during class.  Please wear appropriate attire.

This class will cover basic knowledge of deer hunting tactics, ethics and safety.  We will introduce tracking, calling and cover.  This class will be held outdoors partially in thick woods, participants should be prepared to stay out in the weather.

Youth Rack Pack Event- Shed Hunt
March 19, 2016 9am-3pm

The NWI- QDMA will be holding a shed antler hunt at Sunset Hill Farm County Park.  The admission is free of charge to anyone who would like to participate.  Lunch will be served camp style with funding provided by a donor.  Walk ins are welcome.  There will be hidden surprises for kids in the woods as they walk seeking shed antlers.  Several stations will be set for shooting (archery and BB gun), white-tail deer education and bonfire camaraderie.

This class will consist of hands on experience for participants to engage in field dressing, skinning and butchering of a white-tailed deer in an outdoor environment.  Lunch will be provided in a camp style atmosphere for those who wish to stay on site.  All venison donated for education will be donated to local food pantries. Hunters that want the knowledge to learn how to package your deer from woods to freezer, this is for you.

  •  Walk-ins are welcome to all classes but the minimum must be reserved to hold the class
  • All classes will be outdoor with no cancellation policy for weather.

Basics of Trapping

Basic knowledge of trapping.  This class will discuss the different types of traps for fur-bearers, their safe operation and placement.  The class will install traps in different habitats geared for specific fur-bearers such as: beaver, muskrat, coyote and fox.
